About Me

Hey, I’m Raistlin van Spronsen, photographer, community volunteer with a passion for this community.

Over the years I’ve been involved with organizations like The Ark Christian Youth Centre, Networks Ministries, Bethel Pentecostal Church, and the Dawson Creek Speed Skating Club, where I’ve served as both a coach and social media coordinator. I’ve also volunteered at events like Relay for Life, the Terry Fox Run, multiple Hockey Canada tournaments as part of the Game Operations & Ceremonies team, and countless Speed Skating BC and Speed Skating Canada meets as a Level 2 Heat Box Steward.

These volunteer opportunities have given me the opportunity to enhance my customer service skills, and working with a wide range of people including youth, children, individuals with disabilities and seniors. When I’m not volunteering in the community or working, I can be found out and about with friends, relaxing at home or attending a local event, or movie (did I mention I love live hockey games)

Why Photography

Photography has been part of my story since 2009, when I was given a little point‑and‑shoot to document family trips and everyday life. What started as snapshots of vacations slowly grew into a passion for capturing moments that actually mean something.

Since 2018, I’ve been shooting local events, speed skating, portraits, and my own travels—while my phone handles the day-to-day photos and videos. Whether it’s a packed arena, a grad night, or a quiet walk in a new city, I love turning real moments into images people want to hold onto.

What makes me different

In my early years behind the camera (2014–2018), I was almost exclusively on the rink boards and at local events. Speed skating was my main world back then, so I learned fast how to anticipate split‑second moments and tell a full story, not just grab a single highlight shot.

Today, that same mindset shapes how I work with every client. I’m intentional about keeping my pricing accessible because I believe great, professional photography shouldn’t be out of reach. I don’t race to the bottom or change my rates on the fly, but I am open to creating custom packages so people can get images they’re genuinely excited to print and share.

Every gallery is fully edited, and held to the same standard: if I wouldn’t be excited to call it my work, it doesn’t go out.
